Summary

This repository contains data from the Tamil Nadu Aging Panel; specifically, it currently contains baseline data collected on a sample of 6,294 elderly persons aged 55+ in Tamil Nadu, India in January-June 2019. The data is a pre-merged combination of data from three sources: a household-level survey, an individual-level survey, and individual-level health measurements. The data detail demographic, socio-economic, and health characteristics. The survey instruments are included; for more information please see the readme. A report detailing the panel aims, the sampling strategy, and the survey results is included. This baseline data is the first wave of an ongoing panel, which will be conducted in three additional waves through 2026. The panel is being conducted in collaboration with the government of Tamil Nadu, specifically the Department of Economics and Statistics (for survey assistance) and the Directorate of Public Health (for health measurements).
